Practical first

This guide is written as an operating framework. Exact limits still depend on the organism, system volume, equipment and local rules.

Culture separately from livestock

A dedicated vessel is easier to feed, harvest, inspect and restart. It also prevents medication or predators from wiping out the culture.

Feed the culture, not the water

Add only what the organisms can process. Persistent cloud, smell or sediment usually means the culture is being overfed.

Harvest without emptying the breeding population

Take a measured portion and leave enough healthy adults or resting stages to recover.

Keep backups

Split successful cultures before they age. One air pump failure, temperature spike, mite infestation or bacterial crash should not remove the only food source.

Rinse when appropriate

Separate culture medium and waste from the food organism before feeding sensitive fry.

Record output

Track feed, temperature, harvest volume and crash dates. Culture performance is a production system, not luck.
