Use a clean hatch vessel
A cone or narrow vessel keeps cysts moving and reduces dead spots. Clean it between batches.
Keep strong aeration
Cysts should remain suspended without a fine airstone that traps them. Use open airline and steady turbulence.
Standardise the recipe
Use the same water volume, salt mix, cyst amount, temperature and hatch time. Change one variable only when testing improvement.
Separate nauplii from shells
Stop aeration, use light to concentrate swimmers, and sieve them through appropriate mesh. Avoid pouring shells and hatch water into fry tanks.
Feed while nutritional value is high
Newly hatched nauplii are most useful before they exhaust their yolk. Match harvest timing to the hatch temperature and strain.
