How the method works
Fish adapted to placing eggs in peat, soil-like substrate or dense material, with some species producing eggs that tolerate a dry incubation period.
Practical breeding setup
Use the correct spawning medium for the species, label every batch and record wet and dry dates. Never assume all killifish use the same incubation method.
Egg and fry management
Hatching can be synchronised by wetting the incubation medium, but timing and first-food readiness must be planned before the hatch.
Incorrect moisture, temperature, storage time or species identification can destroy an entire batch.
