Use independent temperature verification and a failure plan
Compare the chiller controller with an independent aquarium thermometer. Set alarms where possible and record normal run times so a failing pump, dirty condenser or sensor drift is noticed early. For species that cannot tolerate warm water, have emergency aeration, fans, ice packs or relocation options planned before a heatwave.
